Home Page Stories
Ten years ago, Barbara Harris spoke to our Rotary about her desire to become a nurse. Her mother and sister both had not graduated from high school. She could not afford UMSL so Rotary provided her with a scholarship to Forest Park Community College. When she finished there, she went to Prairie View College in Texas and lived with her aunt. She returned to UMSL two years ago and has now graduated! She is a Conscious Choice girl and the Rotarians helped her become a successful graduate and now a nurse!  Rotary is helping young people succeed!

Jordan is what is called a water challenged country. They are struggling to educate the children of millions of Syrian and Iraqi and Palestinian refugees in crumbling buildings that run on double shifts.  Read more below how our club acted recently to help make a difference.

Big news recently for the Clayton Ladue Rotary Club.  We were recognized as a major sponsor of World Food Day and our own Kirk Stange and his wife Paola Arzu Stange were the chairs of the Old Newsboys Day fundraiser.  We’ve also moved back to virtual meetings and are sharing the Rotary brand with these face masks we will wear while serving our community.  Happy Thanksgiving all!

Clayton Ladue President –Elect Dan Feichtner and President Dave Powers are pictured at the Gateway Arch with District Governor Tom Drennan and Joy Drennan at the Mississippi River Clean Up on Saturday, September 26th.  The Clean Up was conducted by various organizations including Rotary from the source of the Mississippi in Minnesota to Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico.  Plastic waste including plastic bags, bottles, drinking straws and cups were the worst polluters on the riverfront!
Our club has re-connected with Terrell Clay, an his essay contest winner in 2017 after a writing mentorship program sponsored by Rotary, UMSL and Conscious Choice.  Terrell is off to Highland Community College on August 20th to pursue his dream of playing college football and beyond.  Our club was proud to provide Terrell with a $1,000 scholarship towards his education expenses at Highland.

When COVID-19 keeps us safe inside, Rotarians adapt!  Listening to Hugh Murray right now as today's speaker.
